Farewell, Sweet Margaret

MARGARET  -  (JULY 4, 2001 - AUGUST 30, 2011)
Last night, as the sun was setting in a meadow under a clear, evening sky, Margaret went to sleep. We will miss you more than you every will know, my bunny. Your ten years living with us in our garden, was far too short.

a farm dog from Mississippi, who lived her life in a pretty little garden in Massachusetts where she raised a family (or three), bossed around rodents and skunks, bitched at Fergus, snuck a sip from a Manhatten or two, loved her roast chicken and broth, raising her ducklings and most of all, her two daddies who adored her.

Dear, sweet Margaret, I miss you.

Sorry to learn about your loss of Sweet Margaret. My wife and I lost our blind rescued dog two years ago and know your sorrow. I think the only comfort we can give is to remind you of the good times you had with her.
    Jim and Sue

  3. I am so sorry for you and know what you are going through all too well.

  4. I am so sorry you lost your little 'treasure'. My heart goes out to you both. And Fergus too.

  5. Thanks Erin. Fergus is acting weird, but he surely knows.I sucks SO much. I just want a magic pill that will take the pain out of my mind.

  6. I never know what to say. I'm so sorry, I dread this day, I treasue every one between now and then like I'm sure you're treasuring the last few.

She was absolutely beautiful - my heart aches for you. I suppose we can only take comfort in being lucky enough to spend time, however fleeting, with these loving and inspirational creatures. I wish your family solace and peace through difficult times.

    Met vriendelijke groetjes uit Holland.

  8. An Urban Cottage told me about your wonderful blog and your loss. Our Daisy went to sleep last May. Our Blossom mourned by sleeping in weird places and sitting in the window waiting.
I wish there was a pill too. Sweet Margaret was wonderful. A Terrier with baby ducks? amazing.

  9. So sorry about Margaret. 10 years is too short. I'm sure she was the best of companions. My sincerest condolences,

  10. I'm so very sorry for your devestating loss. It is never easy.

  11. My sorry for your loss. It's so hard to lose a companion animal. They are family...

It is a curse that we are forced to have such greatly varied life spans from our best friends. My deepest condolences in your time of grief.

  13. I am so sorry to hear your sad news, Matt. My heart is breaking for you. My condolences to you all.

  14. I am so sad for your loss! Margaret sounded like such a sweet and wonderful girl and I know how much she will be missed. Your tribute brought tears to my eyes!

  15. So sorry to hear of your loss Matt. May all those sweet memories you have ease the pain you feel now.

  16. Anonymous3:48 AM

I'm sorry. You will always miss her, but I think with time the pain will ease and you will be able to cherish fond memories.

  17. I am overwhelmed with all of your kind thoughts, thanks do much, They are like kids, to some of us, and they are here for such a short time, Margaret had a wonderful rich and full life, we know, but it still doesn't take the pain away. In every life of a dog person, there comes one dog that connects with you more than any other, and that was Margaret. Fergus is just starting to miss her, looking out of the window, sniffing the air outside, looking in other rooms, but we are all trying to move forward. Thanks again for all your kind words.

  18. I'm So, so sorry Matt, and Joe-they are family members to us, and in a way, become closer than our blood kin.She was so lucky to be boss at your home, she had a good life full of love! What a sweet muffin
